Wine Bar
By Carlos Prata

The modern wine bar concept in Portugal has transformed how Portuguese discover and consume quality wines.
Wine bars became an urban phenomenon in Portugal from the 2010s, especially in Lisbon and Porto. These spaces offer wines by the glass from small producers, enabling discovery without committing to a full bottle.
The format combines curated wine selections with petiscos or cheese and charcuterie boards. Many focus on natural wines and lesser-known indigenous varieties. They are now essential to the urban gastronomic landscape.
