The Cataplana: Algarve's Copper Pot of Wonders
In the sun-drenched kitchens of the Algarve, the cataplana stands as both cooking vessel and cultural symbol, its copper curves holding centuries of Moorish heritage and Portuguese coastal tradition.

Born in Santa Clara-A-Nova, Almodôvar, Chef Luís Brito began his culinary journey in 1989 when he enrolled at the Faro School of Hospitality & Tourism. His passion for gastronomy led him through a distinguished career that has spanned over three decades, during which he has overseen kitchens in various prestigious establishments including the Petchey, the Starwood, and the CS Madeira Atlantic.
Today, Chef Brito stands at the helm of A Ver Tavira, a Michelin-starred restaurant located in the historic town of Tavira in the Algarve.
